Why did richtofen and his team go to ascension?!!!?

ok so ive known the story of nazi zombies for quite a long time now including call of the dead but there are one or two things which leave me clueless. Richtofen and his team traveled to kino in the future after being overwhelmed by zombies. This kind of makes sense because they got there by accident and now they have to survive. So then why would they all of a sudden travel to this Russian cosmodrome on the other side of the planet and how? But what really gets me is, no matter how hard i look, no one on the internet or you tube seems to show any signs of this question entering their brain. I mean, you would have thought they'd have tried to get back to their time rather than staying in the 1950s/60s. Its like everyone just seems to think that they just go to these places because they feel like it and want to kill some zombies. I mean, come on, can we get a bit smarter please? Though, i am not completely clueless, i do have my own theory but it is quite weak and i dont have any evidence. After der riese, richtofen went to shino with his team, dempsey etc etc, to continue his work on the wanderwaffe and get away from his murder of dr maxis and samantha. The REASON he went THERE is because he knew that the metorite was there and alot of element 115. He also killed peter there because that where he was hiding out. I think that then they went back to der riese because richtofen knew it was abbandoned and he wanted to make more wanderwaffes, though im not sure. And then they went to kino cause they got overwhelmed and we know that. I think that maybe he went to ascension to use the resources there to help his wanderwaffe project. I think that richtofens objective might be to produce a few wanderwaffes and then travel back to world war two so that the army could start mass producing them. I know that it probably sounds ridiculous but compared to alot of zombie theories out there that say Maxis is still alive,JFK met up with the team blah blah, at least it would make SENSE. Can someone please answer or at least show that they are thinking the same queastion.
