Why did Mike kill the heads of the other mob families at the end of the Godfather?

I just saw the Godfather (Part 1) and it was suuuchhh a great movie. But theres one thing I didnt understand, why did Mikey have the other mob heads killed (during the baptism scene)? I thought the don made peace with everyone before he died
