Why is it that when you confront overly critical people and stand up for yourself they disappear?

Over the last couple months my Sister's been picking on me finding something wrong in everything I do...calling me a Narcissist which I know I'm not and find completely offensive and when I confront her about it and tell her to stop she no longer calls or wants to associate with me? What's up with that?
