Question about what girls are attracted to?

Im viewed as shy but im moreso just picky at who I want to be my friends and I Jeep a tight crew in order to avoid being backstabbed. Im still nice to everyone, and I tend to become girls who I just meet's close friends rather quicllyband im told about how nice, sweet, and great my personality is. I am modest, mostly because I find people with egos to be very annoying and I can't stand narcissists who can't live up to the hype. Why do girls seem to prefer arrogant guys who think their better than everyone else and hurt people? I was thinking maybe self confidence but im not sure.
