Why are people ethnic narcissists?

Why is everyone such an ethnic and cultural narcissist? Are they ignorant of the fact people are more similar than different or is it because they want to contribute to keeping racism alive by parading around their ethnicity which by the way leads to nationalism, then racism, then the formation of America's f*ked up generation and society! Did race matter when Seung-Hui Cho walked into VA Tech and started shooting people? Then why would it matter any time else? People need to get over themselves. Your race is irrelevant and you have no special powers or knowledge. Sorry ethnic narcissists!
